PUZZLE

SA w/piano accompaniment & SATB w/piano accompaniment

“Puzzle” is a 2-part, fun SA choral piece for children’s choir/ elementary choir. There is also a combined choir (SATB) version. Lyrics by Linda Trott Dickman.

How we can resolve our disagreements? “Puzzle” suggests there is a way. The text begins “How to get along together / it’s a puzzle / Will we understand each other ever…” Rhythmic, with hand-claps at beginning and ending. An important, uplifting message for young singers and their audiences. Secular.

Commissioned by Norwood Avenue Elementary School, Maureen Edwards, director, Northport-East Northport Schools, NY.

“I recently commissioned composer, Rich Campbell to compose “Puzzle,” based on the poetry of Linda Dickman for my fourth grade chorus in the Northport-East Northport School District. Both Rich and Linda are Northport graduates which made this a special experience. The piece can be performed SA or SATB. I performed it SA with my elementary choir and SATB featuring our high school choir and an alumni choir. Rich created repetitive themes which makes it accessible for a young choir. The harmony sections can be taught easily and result in an outstanding blend that will truly satisfy both your young musicians and the audience. Technical dynamics as well as clapping sections enhance the piece to make it truly unique. This piece would be great for concerts but would also be a real standout for festivals and competitions.” -Maureen Edwards, Choral Director, Norwood Elementary School, NY
